The Swan Agency - Our Staff

The Swan Agency Insurance offers personal policies for auto, homeowner and boat insurance, as well as commercial policies. Our independent insurance agents can provide you with more information and quotes from quality, reputable agencies.

Beth Cunningham has been in the insurance business for almost 30 years. She writes primarily personal Auto and Homeowner policies. She grew up in Bucksport and graduated from the University of Maine at Orono in 1979 with a degree in History. She began her insurance career in Bucksport and after a couple of years, took some time off to have her two eldest sons. After marrying, she moved to Mount Desert Island and in 1984 she came to The Swan Agency. Beth now has three grown sons and enjoys taking in local plays and concerts, as well as watching UMaine hockey on the weekends.

Deborah Parker has been a licensed agent for more than a decade. She specializes in writing commercial insurance for our local contractors and many local businesses. She was raised in Machias, and out of high school she married and moved to Spain for three years. Upon her return to the US, she graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in business management. She began her insurance career at an agency in Bath, Maine in 1996. She move to Bar Harbor in late 1998 and started at The Swan Agency that same week. Debbie enjoys the outdoors and spending time with her husband and her two young children.

Audrey Hughes has been in the insurance business since 1983, working in both agency and company environments. She specializes in writing personal Auto and Homeowner policies. She grew up in Connecticut, and married and began her family soon out of high school. While her four children were growing up, Audrey moved around quite a bit, and landed in Maine more than once. When her children grew up and moved away, Audrey and her husband moved back to Maine and have stayed here since 1994.  She has been with the Swan Agency ever since. In her free time, Audrey enjoys spending time with her eight grandchildren, singing, quilting, hiking and spending time in her garden.

Courtney Herrick has been a licensed agent since April of 2006, but has worked for The Swan Agency as the receptionist since 2003. She specializes in writing personal auto and motorcycle policies. She grew up in downtown Bar Harbor, and graduated from MDI High School. She attended the University of Maine from 1999 to 2003, and began working for the Swan Agency the following September.  Courtney enjoys spending time with her fiancé and her family, enjoys the outdoors and loves to travel.

Chris Swan, Owner/Manager The Swan Agency was founded on April 1st 1975 by Cary & June Swan. The agency was sold to Chris Swan in 2004. Chris continues to manage the agency and primarily care for the insurance needs of the business clients. Chris credits the ease of doing business with The Swan Agency to the long time core employees of Beth Cunningham, Audrey Hughes & Deborah Parker.
