Agency Principals refer to the ownership and management of an insurance agency. The Swan Agency-INSURANCE is family owned and managed and has been since its inception in 1975.

CARY AND JUNE SWAN

Cary and June Swan are the Company's President and Vice President respectively. The Swans moved to Bar Harbor in 1968 with their three children, aged 5, 4 and 3. Their entrepreneurial spirits (both having grown up in family owned companies), were satisfied in 1975 with the founding of their own firm. The Swan Agency-Insurance and Real Estate. June joined Cary full time within one month of the company's birth date and left working in the local schools to make the Company (and the children) her full time focus. Cary served many community organizations as board member throughout the years, including the local library, school board, hospital, golf club, planning board, bath and tennis club, and at the state level, the Maine Independent Agents Association (IIAAM). He was a founding member of the local Rotary Club. Though immersed full time in the Insurance Agency, June continued to give attention to her main interest of Education, earning a BS Degree at the University of Maine at Orono after two years at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. Two of the three Swan children joined the family firm after college and in 1994 Kim purchased the Real Estate Division of the Company. Chris continues managing the Insurance Agency.

Both companies maintain offices in the SWAN BLOCK at 43 Cottage Street, downtown Bar Harbor. Cary is very thankful that after years of building the Company he is able to sneak away to warmer weather during the cold months in Maine, knowing that the Company is in good hands. June is thankful that she finally has grandchildren and that today's technology allows her to attend to Company business wherever she is, as long as a laptop accompanies her.

CHRIS SWAN

Chris is the second-generation manager of The Swan Agency-INSURANCE. He is the Vice President of operations and is committed to working with the rest of the Agency's talented staff to continue to make customers' needs the top priority. Chris keeps up to date with the rapidly changing insurance industry and serves on Agent Advisory Boards to Insurance Companies. Chris oversees both Company locations in Bar Harbor and Northeast Harbor. Although Maine summers can seem far too short, Chris is able to hit the links AND head out to sea occasionally to catch the elusive Maine lobster. Chris and his wife Dee Dee believe that his most important title is DAD to daughter Evelyn and son Cameron.
